With high expectations from fans and critics alike, Tennessee Performing Arts Center takes on the pressure of having the live staging of the reinvention of a historical story. Furnished with topnotch advanced gear that can definitely provide a exceptional live musical, fans are in for a treat with not just an enjoyable viewing but also a masterful run of this jukebox musical.

The love affair of Romeo and Juliet has ultimately been regarded as one of the most despairing tales in several decades, with the central characters' zealous infatuation for one another leading to their own demise. Using Shakespeare and his wife, Hathaway, as narrators in the play itself though, the worldwide and fresh play, & Juliet, changes up the narrative by allowing Juliet to discover what life has to offer after the death of her true love and empowering her to finally make her own decisions. Choosing to escape Verona with Juliet's equally-resolved companions, they are all opened up to a bigger landscape beyond what the group of friends were accustomed to once they arrive in France.

Given that 400 years have passed since Romeo and Juliet, the new play also presents itself with execution that appeals to a younger audience. To present its narrative to its viewers, the play uses a slew of songs borrowed from pop music industry's best icon, Max Martin. The Swedish songwriter and producer previously had intentions of creating a musical around all his songs over his career, giving rise to ‘& Juliet’ being launched and later on having its first run in the year of 2019. Martin was completely selfless in the manipulation of his hits to the production, stating that he “wanted every song to feel like it was written for the musical, and to make theatergoers feel that even if his songs are performed differently, you would discover their love for his hits again.” '& Juliet' now has the hits from world-class performers namely Celine Dion, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, and The Backstreet Boys, among others. Due to this, the play set the stage for welcoming a diverse and young generation to theater.
