Originally Kimberly first debuted on broadway November 10, 2022. “Kimberly” giving a connotation of strength and nobility, and “Akimbo” a postion of having the hand on the hip and the elbow turned outward, envisions the challenge Kimberly is facing, and the identity she is building.

Played by Victoria Clark, a highly praised Americal Actress and Singer, with hit productions likeThe Light in the Piazza, and Caroline, or Change. This role has won multiple recognitions including the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, Outer Critics Circle Award, and many more.

Written at the start of the millennium by the award-winning David Lindsay-Abaire, Kimberly Akimbo is a musical that revolves around the judgment of Time, Identity, and Resilience.

Kim is a brilliant, funny, and enthusiastic Jersey Girl, with, A disorder that gave her the appearance of a 72-year-old woman, making her physical age four and a half times older than she is. Directed by Jessica Stone, the cast starred Victoria Clark as Kimberly, with Justin Cooley, and more. The show has won several acclaimed awards including 5 Tony Awards, and a Drama Desk Award in 2023.

The two and a half hour show, which debuted on Broadway in 2022, is a walk through a standard teenager, with an unusual condition, going through ordinary high school experiences including her first love, dynamic family, and teenage identity crises. Brought to you by the astonishing Tennessee Performing Arts Center, the performance is stepping into the spotlight of Nashville, on Wednesday 9th April 2025. The musical merges the two polarities of a teenager, one struggling with unreal aging issues, and the other as a standard adolecent going through her phases.

The musical has the ability to bring an amotional journey to the audience by fusing self reflection, and judgement, regarding one’s life point of view and the strength to challenge suffering. While packing so many life lessons behind the curtain, the show can also be unbearably funny, and dark humored. Kimberly uses her humor to cope with life and much of the emotional burden that was unfairly placed on her shoulders.

Kimberly’s dearest relationship is with Jaff her friend, a sophomore, who likes to tingle with his words, and emotional complexicity much of the time. Apart from her posetive relationship with Jeff, one can hardly say more, her mother “Pattie”, is an anxious, abruptly remote and emotionally unavailable often seeming to be caught up with her emotions. “Buddy” Kimberly’s father is an liquor entusiaist who usually fails to demonstrate a good father figure, and then there is “Aunt Debra” dubious con-artist, who’s entire interest was pulling successful conspiracies at all costs.
